Maui County Animal Ordinances - Inhumane Manner Codes
All animals in Maui County are protected regarding living conditions. Since 1997, mammals, fowl, and reptiles must be given protection from wind, rain and sun, clean water, enough food, veterinary care, room to exercise, and a dry place to rest.
Access to a barn, dog house or other suitable
​shelter suffi​cient to protect the animal from wind, rain or sun and with adequate bedding to protect from wet and dampness;
Open or adequate access to potable water in sufficient quantity to satisfy the animal’s needs;
Adequate space for exercise necessary for the health of the animal consistent with prudent animal care practices and access to a dry place for the animal to rest;
